Some Important Things About The 1000 Beds Hospital Designed By DRDO

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, on Sunday visited 1,000-bedded with 250 intensive care units (ICU) beds Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID Hospital in Delhi. The facility comes at a time when the national capital’s health infrastructure has been bursting at seams owing to the surge in Covid-19 cases.

This Facility of Beds came that that time when Delhi recorded 2,505 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday throughout the day and with this total 97,000, cases have been reported in that city, while The death Ratio from this disease mounted to 3,004, according to the Authorities.

This 1000 bed Facility came in front and made the record time of 12 days by The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Along with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), And Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), The Armed Forces, and Tata sons with other industry players.

Rajnath Singh Also appreciated the Efforts of the Stakeholders for building this kind of such facility in the span of few days, and expressed his satisfaction after visiting it, as the national capital is already facing the crucial time day by day the COVID-19 cases are increasing gradually, and an urgent need to augment the existing hospital beds capacity of Delhi for the Covid-19, Reason being MHA and MoD Deployed a 1000 bed hospital in a span of less than the 14 days.

Important Things About This 1,000 Beds Hospital

The most Important DRDO Took the in charge of this design, development and the operationalization of the facility, apart from this with the permission of the Indian Air Forces, they have situated the land near to the New Delhi Domestic Airport Terminal T1.The Construction work Started by DRDO On 23rd June At the site on Ulan Batar Road Which is Adjacent to the Controller General Of Defence Accounts Headquarters.
Medical Team of Doctors and nurses and support staff of the Armed Forces Medical Services will operate these hospitals and the facility will be maintained by DRDO.

About the Covid-19 cases and Patients they will be referred by the district administration and will be treated free of cost here, however, if the cases would be critical then they will refer to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi.

This project has been funded with the TATA Sons, along with the Contributors are Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Astra Microwave Products Limited (AMPL), And Sri Venkateswara Engineers, Bharat Forge and the DRDO Employees voluntarily Contributing Singly Day Salary.

This Hospital is spread over the 25,000 square meters and it is equipped with 250 ICU beds, and all of them are fully air-conditioned, and Each ICU Bed is equipped with the Monitoring equipment and Ventilator. Apart from this, the infrastructure is built with a negative internal pressure gradient For the safe contagion containment.

This hospital is less with all the facility that should be available for the patient, and the medical care staff, Ventilator, x-ray, electrocardiogram (ECG), Haematological test facility, the Oxygen supply to each bed, Wheel Chair, COVID test lab, and from the last 3 months DRDO Developed Covid-19 Technologies productions by the industry like Ventilator, Personal Protective Equipment(PPEs), N95 masks, and the Contact fee sanitizer dispensers, and even the medical robots trolleys will be utilized at this facility.

For the Security purpose Close Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance and access control systems are planted in these hospitals along with the integrated fire safety and control system. DRDO also has built a large parking area for the designated staff, public, ambulances, and firefighting services.
