President Approves Kisan Bill: Ramnath Kovind approved 3 Kisan Bills Passed by Parliament Despite protests

President Ramnath Kovind on Sunday approved three farmer bills despite opposition from opposition parties. Opposition parties had appealed to the President that this bill is anti-farmer, so they should not sign it.

What is Kisan bill?

The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020 for agricultural reforms; The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020 and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020 have been introduced.

All these three laws were implemented by the central government in the form of the ordinance on 5 June 2020 during the lockdown. Since then there has been a ruckus on them. The central government is calling them the biggest agrarian reforms ever. However, the opposition parties see the benefit of the exploitation of farmers and corporates in this.

Modi congratulated on passing the Kisan bill, brought notice of no-confidence motion against opposition Harvansh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had eight tweets after the Kisan Bill was passed from the Rajya Sabha. He has said, “It is a big day in India’s agricultural history.” I congratulate my hard-working givers on the passage of important Bills in Parliament. This will not only bring a paradigm shift in the agricultural sector, but it will empower the crores of farmers.

In another tweet, he once again assured the farmers that the MSP and government procurement would continue as before. However, when these bills were introduced in the Rajya Sabha, the Center got them passed by voice vote.

During the voting on the Kisan bill in the house, the opposition created a lot of uproars. After the demand for a debate on the reply of the Agriculture Minister was rejected, 12 opposition parties presented a notice of no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker of the Rajya Sabha Harivansh Singh.
