New Mahindra Thar Launched: The new Mahindra Thar has been launched in India (9.8 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Hardcore Offroader shown by the company on 15 August is now available for booking and delivery will start from 1 November. Mahindra has been around for a while. Was working on the new Thar and the changes on the new journey are largely minimal. The second-generation Thar is now placed under a separate platform and features new styling with many modern elements. And as opposed to the predecessor, The new model also boasts a long list of features. But the main attraction of the new SUV is the option of a turbocharged petrol engine and automatic transmission.

Drizzle resistant cockpit

The new Thar comes with an all-new dash that features a touch screen infotainment system. The system beams all the important information needed along with playing audio. There is a special adventure section here, where anyone can see the performance of the vehicle on the road. It also shows the roll and pitch angle. But the thing that makes it so special is that it is resistant to the rim. Not only the infotainment system, but switchgear is also resistant.

Special plaque and etching

The 2020 Mahindra Thar comes with two other unique things. The first passenger has an etching on the windscreen. It shows Thar after camels that look like the Thar Desert. There is also a unique plaque that sits on the dash on which the vehicle’s serial number will be etched.

Roof mounted speakers

The Thar Roof comes with mounted speakers. This is a unique take as the doors and panels are washable and this step helps the system work well. The sound quality is also good.

The Hard top

One of the most common questions we get is related to hard tops. The hard top comes as a factory fitted item and is removable. However unlike a soft top, it is not easy to remove and requires tools. The front part is screwed through five screws, which upon removal you will find an open top. However, to remove the entire top, it will take a long time. The windows behind the hard top are not open.

Go anywhere hardware

Mahindra Thar offers a large ground clearance of 226 mm. Coupled to larger 18in tires and proper 4wd transmission, the Thar can go anywhere properly. Apart from this, the new Mahindra Thar comes with very few overhangs and means easy to climb rocks or cross obstacles.
