Australia and New Zealand Have been Given the Hosting of the Women’s World Cup 2023

This is the first time when Australia and New Zealand’s have been given the hosting of the Women’s World Cup 2023 joint hosting claim received 22 votes while their only rival, Colombia, got 13 votes in the FIFA Apex Council, the world’s highest soccer body, on Thursday.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino was among those peoples who voted in favor of Australia and New Zealand. For the first time in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, when 32 teams will participate in this. After this, the previous suggestion to organize it every two years instead of every four years was also repeated.

During an interview, Infantino told reporters that, We need to promote women’s football, reporters from FIFA headquarters in Zurich. If you wait four years all the time, it will be a long time.

FIFA’s decision means that South America will have to wait for the first time to host the Women’s World Cup. This tournament has been played since 1991.

The tournament in 2023 in Australia and New Zealand will be the first World Cup to be hosted by two countries and members of two different FIFA confederations. Australia is a member of the Asian Football Federation while New Zealand is a member of the Osiana Football Federation.

He further added that, Australia, ranked seventh in the women’s football rankings and hosts New Zealand at number 23, will automatically qualify for the tournament.

This will be the first time Australia and New Zealand have been given the hosting of the Women’s World Cup. Earlier, the US and China have hosted the Women’s World Cup twice, while Sweden, Germany, Canada, and France have hosted the tournament once each.

When the Women’s World Cup started for the first time in 1991, it was won by the US team. So far, this tournament has been held eight times and the United States has won it four times in eight.

The American team has also won the last two consecutive World Cups. Germany has done it twice, while Norway and Japan have now won the tournament once.
